A labourer was killed and another seriously injured on Saturday after being struck by rolling boulders in the Holi area of Chamba district.

The deceased has been identified as Lokendra Kumar, a resident of Dharotu village. The injured worker, Manoj Kumar from Kundi village, has been admitted to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba.

Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav stated that the incident occurred around 10.30 am near Khurudu, where the workers were engaged in the construction of a retaining wall. Eyewitnesses reported that boulders suddenly began falling from the hillside above, triggering panic at the site. While most workers managed to escape, two were caught in the rockfall. Lokendra Kumar died on the spot, while Manoj Kumar sustained serious injuries. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination.
