Lahaul farmers assured of timely produce transportation to mandis

In the wake of recent weather-related disruptions and natural calamities, the Lahaul-Spiti district administration has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of farmers and ensuring timely transportation of their cash crops and vegetables to markets.

Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana, who also heads the District Disaster Management Authority Lahaul and Spiti, stated that despite adverse conditions, the administration is working overtime to ensure that farmers’ produce reaches mandis without delay. “The administration is fully committed to ensuring that all farmers in the district are able to transport their crops to the markets on time,” said Bhadana.

The DC stated that Rohtang Pass and Pagal Nala route have been reopened for small vehicles, enabling farmers from remote villages in Lahaul and Spiti to transport their crops to Kullu and other major markets.

“The BRO is working diligently to repair roads to ensure movement of heavy vehicles. The district administration is closely monitoring the progress. Officials have been stationed at key points to respond promptly to any unforeseen issues or disruptions,” the DC said.
