Hoteliers of the Lahaul valley are elated as the tourist footfall has increased after the opening of Atal Tunnel on the Manali-Leh road.

The Lahaul valley is blessed with the bounty of nature where Tandi Sangam is a major attraction for tourists. At Tandi Sangam, the Chandra and the Bhaga meet. Thereafter, the river is known as the Chenab. Pictures are getting viral on Facebook and WhatsApp where tourists can be seen enjoying on its bank.

Homestay for tourists

While some hoteliers have opened their units, a large number of hotels are still shut due to Covid-19. The hotels at Keylong, Sissu and Jispa are experiencing 80 per cent room occupancy. Many have opened their homes for the stay of the tourists. The government rest houses are also experiencing 100 per cent occupancy.

Tenzin Karpa, a hotelier at Keylong, said the tourists were thronging Lahaul to have a glimpse of the valley. The places such as Tandi Sangam, temple of Lord Trilokinath and Mrikula Mata Temple were experiencing a huge rush.

Vir Singh Thomas, president of Hoteliers Association Lahaul Valley, told The Tribune that the next year, hoteliers would make advance arrangements for tourists.
