Lahaul-Spiti police host cricket tourney under drug-free campaign
14 teams join drive to promote sports as an alternative to substance abuse
The Lahaul-Spiti district police are organising a cricket tournament on the theme of ‘Drug-Free Lahaul-Spiti’. The police have launched the campaign to engage the local youth to take up sports and shun substance abuse.
The Udaipur police station in-charge inaugurated the tournament, marking the start of a competitive event featuring 14 teams from the district.
Officials said that the main aim of the initiative was to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of drug use and encourage them to channel their energy into healthy, productive activities such as sports.
Police officials stated that the event formed part of a broader community engagement strategy designed to foster a safe, healthy and drug-free environment in the district. The competition will continue over the next few days with matches scheduled across various local grounds, offering young athletes a platform to showcase their talent while embracing a drug-free lifestyle.
