Mandi, February 11

Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar said Rs 1,500 per month would be provided to the women of Lahaul and Udaipur subdivisions of Lahaul and Spiti district under the first phase of the Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Women aged 18-59 years would be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme, he said, adding that the aim of the scheme was to enable women to live a life of self-respect, and to make Buddhist nuns self-reliant.

The DC said the district administration had made complete preparations for the scheme. The benefit of this scheme would be available to those eligible women whose household do not have a government employee/outsourcer/pensioner/ASHA worker and any category of a government employee, he said.

"To avail the benefit of this scheme, the eligible women should submit their completed application form to their Panchayat Secretary," the DC said, adding that 806 eligible women were receiving the benefit of this scheme in the Spiti subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti district.

The DC said that the eligible women can contact the offices of District Welfare Officer Khushvinder Thakur and Tehsil Welfare Officer Rajesh for more information.
