People from all walks of life offered floral tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai on his death anniversary observed at the Scandal Point on the Mall Road here today.

MLA (Shimla Urban) Harish Janartha offered a floral tribute to Sher-e-Punjab Lala Lajpat Rai. He said that the saga of courage of the great leader during the freedom movement would always be remembered. He added, “Lala Lajpat Rai was martyred after being beaten up by the British. Known as the Lion of Punjab, he was one of those greatest sons who contributed immensely to the independence movement of India.”

Deputy Mayor of the Shimla Municipal Corporation Uma Kaushal along with councillors and other dignitaries also paid floral tributes at the memorial to Lala Lajpat Rai at the Scandal Point. Artistes of the Information and Public Relations Department presented patriotic songs and bhajans.

Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Anupam Kashyap and Municipal Commissioner Bhupendra Attri were present on the occasion.
