Lalita Sharma from Mandi has been appointed the Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sonepat. She assumed charge in Sonepat today.

This is the first time that a woman from Himachal has got the post.

People of Mandi have expressed happiness over her appointment. Lalita hails from Randhada village in the Mandi Sadar Assembly segment.

She completed her elementary education from Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Mandi, and graduation from Government Vallabh College, Mandi. She later did MBA from HP University, Shimla.

Lalita joined the service as Assistant Director at Bilaspur in 1989 and in 2000, she was posted to Dharamsala as Deputy Director, Sports Authority of India.

In 2014, she was posted as Director at the Main Office, Delhi.

During her posting in Bilaspur and Dharamsala, she made a major contribution to the formation of sports infrastructure.
