“When no government land was available for the primary health centre, I donated one kanal land. The department then said that the donated land was inadequate, I again donated my five marla land for the PHC. Even then the construction of the PHC building had not started,” Girdhari Lal Sharma, a resident

“The map and design of the proposed PHC building had been submitted to the authorities concerned for approval. After procuring approval next steps would be taken for starting construction of the building”. R K Mehta, Block Medical Officer, Fatehpur

Girdhari Lal Sharma (76), a resident of Raja ka Talab in Fatehpur sub division, has been running from pillar to post for the past four years for construction of a primary health centre (PHC) building at his native place. He had donated his land for this purpose in 2016 and got transferred its ownership in favor of the state health and family welfare department.

However, even after four years, construction of the PHC building had yet not started. Sharma had approached local elected public representatives besides concerned department authorities several times but in vain.

Sharma lamented that when no government land was available for the PHC at Raja ka Talab he had donated one kanal land for construction of the centre building besides the passage land on the roadside keeping in view the larger interest of the people of the area.

“The department took plea that the donated land was inadequate for construction of the PHC building and its approach road. I again donated my five marla land and transferred it in the name of the department. Even then the construction of the PHC building had not started,” he lamented.

“If the state government is unable to construct the PHC building on the donated land it should be restored to me immediately”, Sharma demanded.

Notably, the health and family welfare department has started a PHC on January 14, 2017 from a single room of a local sarai. At present the out patient door (OPD) registration has crossed 50 but in the absence of its own PHC building the patients are facing a lot of inconvenience.

Jagjit Singh, local Block Development Committee (BDC) member, said he had raised this issue with the health department authorities several times but only hollow assurances were given.

Meanwhile, R K Mehta, Block Medical Officer, Fatehpur, said that map and design of the proposed PHC building had been submitted to the authorities concerned for approval. After procuring approval next steps would be taken for starting construction of the PHC building.
