Law varsity inks pact to strengthen legal education
In a step towards enhancing legal education in India, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur. The agreement, signed under the leadership of Prof (Dr) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of HPNLU Shimla, aims to foster academic and institutional collaboration, student and faculty exchange, PhD research partnerships, joint research programs, and funding opportunities. It also seeks to promote traditional legal, cultural, and ethical values in alignment with constitutional principles and social justice.
Prof Saxena emphasised that the MoU will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and academic cooperation between the two institutions, paving the way for innovative legal programmes. “The partnership is designed to foster mutual growth in legal education, research, and faculty and student exchange, ensuring the development of forward-thinking legal professionals,” she said.
She further highlighted that the collaboration aligns with the mission of both universities to provide an interdisciplinary and practical legal education that prepares students for the evolving legal landscape. The partnership will also strengthen research capacities, contributing to the advancement of legal scholarship in India.
The MoU is initially valid for five years, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement. Both institutions have reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a strong academic bond, ensuring continued benefits for students, faculty, and researchers.
