Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla felicitated meritorious students of a private school at Majra in Paonta Sahib last evening.
While addressing the gathering, he urged parents to let their children pursue their own interest. “Parents should not force their own interests on children, whose own interests should be identified at the right time so that necessary guidance can be given for their bright future,” he added.
Quoting Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, he said, “Dream is not the thing you see in sleep but the thing that doesn’t let you sleep.”
While expressing concern over the increasing prevalence of drug abuse in ‘Devbhoomi’, the Governor said that everyone should come forward to curb the menace. “While police personnel are stopping the smuggling of drugs from interstate borders, citizens will also have to intensify efforts from home to save their families from drugs.”
The Governor said that synthetic intoxication substances like chitta and heroine isolate children from their family, worsening the problem. Therefore, besides the police, the society would also have to step forward and fight to curb the menace of drug abuse, he addded.
