Libraries to be built across Kangra district in phased manner, says DC
Inaugurates Panchayat Bhawan, library at Baghni
In a significant step towards promoting education and rural development, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa on Saturday inaugurated the newly-constructed Panchayat Bhawan and Library in Baghni Panchayat, built at a cost of RS 32 lakh. Former Mayor Devendra Jaggi was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Bairwa announced that libraries will be constructed in various areas of the district in a phased manner to provide better study resources for the younger generation. “These libraries will serve as knowledge hubs and help students in exam preparation, while encouraging constructive engagement,” he said.
The DC emphasised the administration’s commitment to building sports infrastructure at the panchayat-level to steer youth away from drug addiction. He also highlighted efforts being made to empower women economically through self-help groups and Him-Ira Shops. “To further boost rural entrepreneurship, the Apna Kangra App is being developed to facilitate online marketing of SHG products,” he added.
Bairwa encouraged villagers to form milk production societies, assuring government support for milk procurement. He informed that a milk processing plant is coming up in Dhagwar, which will enhance dairy-based economic opportunities in rural areas.
“Baghni Panchayat is emerging as a model panchayat. The administration will continue to support its growth,” he stated, adding that timely resolution of public issues remains a top priority.
Panchayat Pradhan Suresh Pappi welcomed the officials and briefed them on ongoing development works. BDO Abhinit Katyayan, DPO Alok Dhawan and other local
leaders and officials were also present.
