Lists ready, HPCC office-bearers will be known soon: Pratibha

State Congress president Pratibha Singh today said that the names of the office-bearers of the district and block units of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) would be announced shortly. “We have prepared the lists and the groundwork has been done. The lists will be finalised after talks with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and other senior party leaders,” said Pratibha. “I will soon meet with newly appointed state in-charge Rajni Patil to discuss the reconstitution of the HPCC,” she added.

She said that hardworking leaders, youth and women would be given important responsibilities in the party organisation. “We want that committed party workers should get a place in the government as well. I have been taking up this matter with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for long. We will give important responsibilities to committed workers and leaders in the party organisation,” she added.

Pratibha said that prompt reconstitution of the organisation was important considering that the elections to panchayati raj institutions (PRIs) were due at the year-end. “The party needs to gear up for the PRI elections. Besides, the party has to start preparations for the Assembly elections due in 2027. Elections can be won only if the organisation is strong," she added.

On the BJP appointing a woman as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Pratibha said that the national capital had seen a highly successful Congress Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit. “Under Sheila Dikshit, Delhi saw tremendous development. It remains to be seen how successful the BJP Chief Minister will be,” she added.
