Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan has said this time a new dimension had been added to the series of diverse cultural events set to be organised during the Mandi Shivratri Mahotsav.
For the first time, a literature festival was also on the roster of the fair’s festivities, he said.
For the Mandi Literature Festival (2024) event — set to be held on March 6 and 7 — experts in the field of literature and art from across the country are expected to gather in Mandi.
Devgan said the district administration’s preparations were in full swing regarding the fair.
“This two-day event will be held in the auditorium of the Sardar Patel University. The festival will start on March 6 at 10:30 am. It will include budding and talented writers, artists, and poets along with stalwarts of the literature and arts fields. Literature and art lovers will get an opportunity to meet their favorite littérateurs, who will participate in interesting discussion sessions,” he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathour held a meeting with senior writers and artists of Mandi yesterday to discuss the outline of Mandi Literature Festival (2024).
He said, in this event dedicated to literature and culture, there would be a coordination of entertainment, inspiration and education. Workshops on creative writing and photography would be organised by famous artists, he added, urging everyone to actively cooperate for the successful organisation of the festival.
“In the two-day literature festival, well-known writers and art connoisseurs of Himachal, especially from Mandi, will participate in discussion sessions with eminent litterateurs of the country,” he added.
Senior littérateurs Ganga Ram Raji, Birbal Sharma, Murari Sharma, Krishan Chander Mahadevia, Roop Upadhyay, Prakash Chand, Roopeshwari, Rakesh Kapoor, Jagdish Kapoor, Nirmala Chandel, Satyender Pal, Vidya, Asha Thakur, Usha Sharma, Daksha Sharma were among those present during the meeting.
District Panchayat Officer Anchit Dogra, District Public Relations Officer Sachin Sangar and District Language Officer Promila Guleria were also present in the meeting.
