In a commendable outreach initiative, Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Justice (retd) Chander Bhusan Barowalia is conducting awareness camps in the remote areas of Sirmaur district to educate citizens about the functioning of the Lokayukta, their rights and the state’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

On Monday, Justice Barowalia visited Sataun village under the Shillai Assembly segment, where he interacted with local representatives, administrative officers, government employees and villagers. Through a reformative approach, he sensitised the attendees about the ongoing anti-corruption drive and the need for collective vigilance to build a transparent system.

What set the session apart was Justice Barowalia’s spiritually infused message. He emphasised that wealth and assets acquired through corrupt and unethical means not only tarnished one’s moral standing but also had karmic consequences. “One must remember that after this worldly journey, there is a higher court where every deed is accounted for,” he said. He further urged people to develop and promote healthy habits not just for personal wellbeing but also for building a conscious and ethical society. “Just as we care for our physical health, we must also take responsibility to uphold societal health by saying no to corruption and encouraging others to do the same,” he stated.

Continuing his public engagement efforts, Justice Barowalia also organised another special camp in Shillai on Tuesday, furthering his mission to bring the Lokayukta institution closer to the grassroots. These initiatives reflect a proactive and people-centric approach aimed at fostering a culture of accountability, ethics and good governance in the state.

The villagers and local leaders expressed appreciation for the Lokayukta’s direct interaction and insightful guidance, calling it an empowering experience that bridged the gap between institutions and citizens.
