Long weekend, 1,000 vehicles enter Manali
KULLU, APRIL 14
The number of tourist vehicles coming to Manali has doubled due to the long weekend.
Yesterday, around 600 tourist vehicles were registered at the Green Tax Barrier near Manali but today over 1,000 vehicles entered the town. The Rohtang tunnel, Mall Road, Hadimba Temple, Vashisht Temple and major spots are flooded with tourists.
While the mercury is nearing 40 degree Celsius in the plains, the temperature here is pleasant. Tourists can enjoy snow at various spots around Manali and in Lahaul and Spiti. The temperature is still being sub-zero at night in Lahaul-Spiti, the cold desert of Himachal.
As the mercury rises in the plains, tourists have started moving towards the hills to get relief from the heat. Most star category hotels are packed to capacity for the weekend.
The famous tourist destination Rohtang Pass will also be opened to tourists soon. —
