In its ongoing campaign against the drug menace, the Kangra police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 56.03 grams of heroin from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Gagan Ganesh (33), alias Billu, a resident of Radi Mohalla, Neem Chowk, Ludhiana, Punjab. He was allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade for a long time and had been under police surveillance.

On September 3, a special team of the Kangra police was patrolling near Varsha Shalika, along the main road from Kangra Bypass to Daulatpur, when they intercepted him. He was allegedly trying to sell the contraband.

An FIR under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him at the Kangra Police Station. The accused has been arrested and further investigation was underway to trace his network.
