Luhri project to hit 435 families, public hearing on Dec 16, 17

The construction of Luhri Hydro Electric Power Project Stage-I in Anni subdivision of the district is set to affect as many as 435 families.

In this regard, administrator (Rehabilitation and Resettlement)-cum-ADM Kullu SK Prashar today said that a public hearing under the Section 16 (5) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, will be held for the affected persons. He said that Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) will acquire around 18 hectares of land in Phati Nither and about 9.7 hectares in Phati Gadej for this purpose causing inconvenience to 328 families of Phati Nither and 107 of Phati Gadez.

Only 1 person from family allowed

ADM, Kullu, SK Prashar said in view of Covid, people attending the hearing are advised to strictly follow the government guidelines for safety. Only one person from the affected family should attend the hearing.

The ADM said that a public hearing will be held at PWD rest house at Nither on December 16 from 10 am onwards for the affected persons of Nither and Dehra panchayats and the hearing for the people of Gadez panchayat will take place on December 17.

Prashar said that a draft Rehabilitations and Resettlement scheme for the affected families has been prepared and was duly published on November 3. The draft is available in the office of the Kullu Deputy Commissioner, Anni SDM, Naib Tehsildar Nither, BDO Nirmand, concerned panchayats as well as on the official website of Kullu district, he added.

The ADM said that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, people attending the hearing are advised to strictly follow the government guidelines. He appealed that only one person from the affected family should attend the hearing.
