Man arrested for murder in Theog

Shimla, July 9

A person has been arrested for allegedly killing a man in Theog subdivision of Shimla district, the police said here today. The accused has been identified as Umesh.

As per the statement of an eyewitness — on the basis of which a case was registered — the incident occurred when victim Naresh and the accused got into a heated argument while they were consuming liqour. In the heat of the moment, the accused slapped Naresh and pushed him. Naresh fell on the road and fainted. Assuming that he was unconscious due to intoxication, Naresh’s relatives took him home. However, when he did not regain consciousness, he was rushed to Theog Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Theog Deputy Superintendent of Police Siddharth Sharma said a case under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, has been registered against the accused.
