The police arrested Sourav Kumar (31), a native of Darjeeling, last evening for murdering a Nepalese woman at Galog village near Barog in Solan district.
The police swung into action after receiving information that Ganga Devi was lying dead at her rented accommodation at Galog village. The police probe revealed that she was strangulated and bore injury marks on her temple and other parts of the body, hinting towards a scuffle. Her son Sanju Kumar told the police that he along with his uncle Vijay and youths Sourav and Jiwan had taken meals together yesterday. His mother then went to sleep but was later found dead with blood oozing out from her mouth.
Sanju expressed doubt that Sourav had murdered his mother after an altercation with her. Rajkumar Chandel, Additional SP, Solan, said that Sourav confessed to having murdered the woman. The police probe revealed that he tried to outrage her modesty but she tried to defend herself, leading to multiple injuries on her body. Blood stains were visible on his clothes proving his involvement in the crime.
