Man duped of Rs 1.2 lakh on job promise

The accused has been identified as Dev Kumar, a resident of Rohru subdivision, Shimla.
In his complaint, Virender Chauhan, a resident of Theog, alleged that he met Dev Kumar, who identified himself as head of a department in the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat. Dev claimed that he could get Chauhan’s brother job as a gardener in the High Court.
Chauhan alleged that the accused told him that to get the job, he will have to pay Rs 3 lakh. Of this, half the amount was to be paid before getting the job and the remainder after getting appointment letter.
Chauhan claimed that he paid Rs 1.2 lakh to the accused. When the complainant asked the accused to return the money, the latter started making excuses.
Realising that he has been cheated, Chauhan approached the police and filed a complaint against the accused. The police registered a case.
