Man held for abducting, raping minor girl

Nurpur, December 13

The Jawali police in Kangra district have arrested Sukhwinder, alias Punjabia (22), of Dasolli village for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl of a nearby village. He was produced in the court on Sunday and remanded in police custody for three days.

According to the police, the family of the victim had earlier got registered an FIR under Section 363 of the IPC against the accused for allegedly abducting the victim on December 4. The police recovered the duo yesterday. The victim, who declined to undergo medical examination, recorded her statement in the court under Section 164 of the IPC and alleged that the accused had established physical relations with her.

Sidharth Sharma, DSP, Jawali, said after the victim’s statement was recorded, Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act have been added in the FIR. He said further investigations were on.
