Jawali police in Nurpur police district today arrested Karnail Singh, alias Shunka of Banolli village, for allegedly murdering 44-year-old man identified as Rashpal Singh of the same village.

As per police information, the victim had gone to a religious programme at nearby Bharmad village last night. Suddenly, the accused approached him and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. They were neighbours and the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained by the police.

Seriously injured, the victim was rushed to a private hospital at Harnota where the doctor declared him dead.

On getting information, Jawali police rushed to the spot and took possession of the body. The body was handed over to the family on Monday after conducting a post-mortem examination at civil hospital Nurpur.

SP Ashok Ratan said the police has registered a murder case against the accused and further investigation in the blind murder was underway.
