A 22-year-old hotel employee, Aman, allegedly stabbed his colleague to death during a heated argument late on Thursday night. The incident occurred at Hotel Bombay Palace in Dalhousie. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.
The police said that around midnight, an argument broke out between two hotel staff members. The verbal spat soon escalated into a physical fight. In a fit of rage, Aman attacked 26-year-old Manish Kumar with a sharp-edged weapon, leaving him critically injured. A fellow employee, Raman Kumar, informed the local police immediately. A police team arrived at the hotel and took Manish to the Civil Hospital in Dalhousie where he was declared dead on arrival.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said that multiple police teams were deployed to track down the accused and he was arrested on Friday. A forensic team, along with a dog squad, was also involved in gathering evidence from the scene.
Deceased Manish Kumar was a resident of Mehla in Chamba district. The accused, Aman, hails from Salooni. Both were unmarried.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Dalhousie hospital, following which the body was handed over to the family. Yadav said the motive behind the argument and subsequent murder is yet to be ascertained. The accused is being interrogated. A case has been registered under provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
