Man throws acid on wife in Himachal's Mandi, arrested; victim shifted to AIIMS Bilaspur

The case was reported to the Sadar police station, prompting immediate action by local authorities.
According to initial investigations, the accused, Nand Lal, who runs a tea shop near Zonal Hospital, Mandi, had been involved in prolonged domestic disputes with his wife.
This evening, he reportedly returned home, entered his wife’s room, and, during an argument, threw acid on her. The victim was promptly taken to Zonal Hospital, Mandi, where she received urgent medical care. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to AIIMS Bilaspur for specialised treatment. Her condition is being closely monitored by medical staff.
ASP Abhimanyu Verma visited the hospital premises in Mandi to investigate the matter.
Mandi SP Sakshi Verma confirmed the report, saying an FIR has been registered at the Sadar police station and further investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The accused has been arrested. The SP assured that strict legal action will be taken against him under relevant provisions of the law, including sections pertaining to domestic violence and acid attacks.
