Manali Winter Queen auditions scheduled in Chandigarh on January 15

The auditions for the Winter Queen beauty pageant during the five-day-long national level Manali Winter Carnival to be held from January 20 to 24 will be held in the auditorium Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh on January 15. The winner of the pageant will be awarded Rs 1 lakh and a crown. The 1st runner up will be presented Rs 50,000 and 2nd runner up will be given Rs 30,000.

Manali Winter Carnival Organising Committee Vice Chairman and Manali SDM Raman Sharma said that adequate arrangements of board and lodging of the selected contestants for the pageant have been made. He said, “Various rounds of the pageant based on different themes are held daily in the evenings in Manu Rangshala. The crowd cheers as the beauties hit the ramp. The contestants are also assessed on their performance in various other activities conducted during the fiesta. The winners are announced after the Grand Finale on the closing of the carnival. The pageant has gained repute over the years and is considered a good platform for the aspiring models.”

The Vice-Chairman said the main objective of organising the Winter Carnival is to promote tourism activities in Manali and Kullu. He said that many programs and competitions will be organised during the carnival so that the tourists coming here are acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the district and the state.

He said that artists of the state will be given priority in the cultural programs of carnival and auditions will be organised for the selection of artists. He added that auditions for Voice of Carnival singing competition will be held along with the auditions for the Winter Queen.

The SDM said that various committees have been formed to organise the event in a grand manner. He said that Maha Nati will also be organised and attractive tableaux will be presented by Mahila Mandals. He added that this year too, a fashion show based on traditional costumes will be organised for the members of the local Mahila Mandals so that the tourists present here can get acquainted with the rich attire of the district. He further added that Street Plays and Got Talent Shows will also be organised.

The officer said that to make the event successful, the Mall Road will be decorated with colourful lights. He said, “Manali transforms into a vibrant celebration of tradition, talent and natural beauty during the fest. The tourists can immerse in the festive atmosphere and breathtaking snow-clad landscapes. It is a perfect getaway to experience the magic of winter in Manali.”
