The Hatti Vikas Manch has urged the state government to declare the Solan-Rajgarh-Nauhradhar-Haripurdhar-Rohnat-Meenus Road as a national highway, citing its importance for the people of Sirmaur district. A delegation led by manch president Pradeep Singh Singta met with Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh and submitted a memorandum highlighting the demand. They also called for immediate road widening work to address current issues.

Singta said the road, currently designated as State Highway-6, was originally constructed between 1958 and 1962 and has undergone minimal improvement since then, despite increased traffic and population. He emphasised that the road is a lifeline for thousands in Sirmaur and provides a crucial connection between Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

He noted that the Rajgarh subdivision, popularly known as the ‘Peach Valley of Asia’, is a hub for horticulture and off-season vegetable farming. The economic growth of the region is directly dependent on the accessibility and quality of this road, he said.

Singta pointed out the poor condition of the road, frequent accidents, and the lack of basic infrastructure, stressing the urgent need for redevelopment. He said upgrading the road would enhance road safety, boost regional development, and support socio-economic progress.

The manch requested the minister to forward the proposal to the central government and take swift action. Singta also mentioned that earlier memorandums had been submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.
