Mandi consumers urged to get E-KYC done for ration cards
Vijay Singh Hamlal, District Controller of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, has urged consumers in the district who have not yet completed their E-KYC for ration cards to do so immediately.
Hamlal said the Food Supply Department has been running the E-KYC process for two years. Despite this, many consumers have yet to complete it.
“Ration cards of those who have not completed the process have been blocked. Out of 1,076,821 consumers in the district, 159,250 have not completed the E-KYC. Blocked ration cards will be reactivated once E-KYC is completed,” he said.
Hamlal also noted the E-KYC process can be completed via a mobile application. Consumers can download the “E-KYC PDS HP” app from the Google Play Store to complete the procedure.
“Under the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme, beneficiaries from other states who are part of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) no longer need to travel to their home states for E-KYC. They can now visit any Fair Price Shop (FPS) with their Aadhar card, complete the biometric verification, and finish the E-KYC process,” he added.
The E-KYC can be completed through three methods: using the Android app, visiting a CSC centre or at an FPS. For further assistance, consumers can contact the toll-free number 1967 or reach the District Controller’s office at 01905-222197. — TNS
