The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), Mandi division, has successfully restored power supply after days of disruption caused by heavy rainfall and landslides in the district.
The outage was triggered when the 132 kV double-circuit extra high voltage (EHV) transmission line connecting Bijni, Larji and Kangu suffered extensive damage near the 9 Mile (Pandoh) area. A major tower supporting the line was completely destroyed, severing the primary power source to Mandi division and leading to widespread outages.
In an official statement, HPSEBL confirmed that technical teams were immediately mobilised and worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to repair the damaged line. After sustained efforts, the transmission line was successfully re-energised today, restoring stability to the grid and ensuring normal electricity supply in the region.
To minimise inconvenience during the repair period, power was rerouted through alternate sources, including the 66 kV Shanan–Bijni line and the 33 kV Ratti-Medical College-Barsu-Bijni line, which helped partially stabilise supply.
HPSEBL expressed gratitude to residents of Mandi for their patience and cooperation during the crisis.
