Mandi MC launches anti-rabies drive

The Mandi Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the Helping Hand Club for Animals and the Animal Husbandry Department, conducted a successful city-wide anti-rabies vaccination drive for stray dogs on Thursday. The initiative aimed to strengthen public health and ensure the safety of both residents and animals.

A total of 40 stray dogs were vaccinated at key locations across Mandi city, including Gandhi Chowk, Seri Manch, Chauhta Bazaar, the DC Office area, Post Office Road, Bhagwan Mohalla, Hanuman Ghat, Panchvaktra, Lower Paddal, Victoria Bridge, Town Hall and Suhada Mohalla. Teams stationed at these points efficiently identified, vaccinated and safely released the animals.

MC Commissioner Rohit Rathour said the vaccinated dogs included 27 males and 13 females. He noted that such drives are essential for controlling the spread of rabies and promoting a safe and compassionate environment for both citizens and stray animals.

Rathour added that the vaccination campaign will continue in the coming days to ensure wider coverage and enhanced public safety. He also appreciated the coordinated efforts of all participating agencies for making the initiative a success.
