Mandi, February 24
Under the ongoing Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme aimed at voter awareness, the Sadar subdivision administration took a unique initiative and organised a one-day friendly cricket and volleyball competitions at Paddal Ground in Mandi district.
The purpose of the competition was to encourage the youth to vote. The youth of Sadar Assembly constituency participated in these competitions with great enthusiasm. As many as 12 teams participated in the cricket competition — 10 teams in the boys category and two in the girls category, from Vallabh Government Collegehere. The volleyball competition was organised only for girls, with six teams participating in it.
“Whenever you get a chance to vote, you should as well as encourage others to vote. This is not only our right but also our duty. To strengthen the country, democracy should be strengthened and it will be only possible by casting votes,” said Sadar Assembly constituency Assistant Electoral Officer Om Kant Thakur while addressing the youth participating in the sports meet.
As part of the voter awareness campaign, a signature campaign was also conducted in the Paddal ground on the occasion in which educational institutions of Sadar Assembly constituency were present along with their teams.
