Eligible women from poor households in Mandi district would soon receive free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 3.0, Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan announced on Friday.

Devgan said a District Ujjwala Committee has been constituted to ensure the effective implementation of the scheme, which he would chair. The committee would oversee beneficiary verification and conduct physical inspections to ensure that the benefits reach only genuine and deserving families.

He said PMUY 3.0 aims to provide clean cooking fuel to women from economically weaker sections, thereby improving their health and contributing to environmental protection and social progress. The scheme, first launched in 2017, has been expanded in its third phase by the Central Government to reach a larger number of eligible women across the country.

Under the scheme, eligible adult women from poor households can apply by submitting a self-declaration of deprivation. Each selected beneficiary would receive an LPG connection worth approximately Rs 2,050 free of cost. The package includes a security deposit for the gas cylinder, pressure regulator, safety hose, DGCC booklet (gas passbook), inspection, installation, demonstration and documentation charges.

Devgan added home inspections have been made mandatory to ensure that only genuinely eligible households benefit from the scheme.

Applicants are required to submit a duly filled KYC form, proof of identity and address, ration card, Aadhaar cards of all adult family members, bank account details and a self-declaration form of deprivation.

Families would be considered eligible only if no member already possesses an LPG connection. Those with a monthly income exceeding Rs 10,000, any government employee, income tax or professional tax payers, owners of over 2.5 acres of irrigated land, motor vehicles, large private houses or advanced agricultural equipment would be deemed ineligible. Eligible women can apply for PMUY 3.0 through the official websites.
