Mandi university launches 5-day faculty development programme
Abhilashi University, Chail Chowk, in Mandi has launched a 5-day faculty development programme aimed at strengthening the academic and professional skills of its faculty members. Organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), the programme, being held from January 6 to January 10, is being organised in the hybrid mode — both online and offline — at the university’s auditorium.
Faculty members from various departments of the university, including professors, associate professors and assistant professors, are actively participating in the initiative. At the inaugural ceremony, chancellor RK Abhilashi emphasised the significance of quality education and innovation in modern teaching practices.
Abhilashi highlighted the importance of incorporating technological advancements into teaching to better engage students and enhance the learning experience. The vice-chancellor HK Chaudhary and the pro-chancellor of the university also extended their support for the programme, underscoring its relevance in equipping teachers with the latest methodologies and tools. In his address, the VC emphasised the importance of adopting modern teaching techniques inspired by global and regional educators.
He said teachers should not only focus on personal productivity but also on improving the quality of education through effective use of technology. Programmes such as this, he added, helped educators understand and implement new teaching strategies, boosting their confidence and strengthening the educational system.
FDP director and IQAC head PC Sharma, along with, organising chairman and director of research Vivek Chauhan, and organising secretary Reena are leading the programme. On the first day, Dr Rakesh Kapoor delivered a session on creative teaching methods, digital tools and time management.
A spokesperson of the university said the interactive session was well-received by the participants, who shared their insights and expressed how the programme was enhancing their teaching skills and academic knowledge.
