Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said the state had suffered losses of over Rs 4,000 crore in the rain disaster this monsoon. “Since the monsoon is over now, the work has begun to restore the affected roads,” he said. The state government has made manifold increase under various heads in the relief manual and compared to Rs 1.30 lakh being given earlier, people are now getting Rs 7 lakh for damage to houses, the minister said.

He added that despite massive damage to public infrastructure like roads, bridges and water supply schemes, the state government will undertake restoration work in the affected areas as it had done in 2023. Vikramaditya laid the foundation stone of Kufri Dhar to Shanol road to be built at a cost of Rs 90 lakh under the CM’s Rural Road Scheme.

Addressing public at Mulbari Devnagar panchayat, the minister said the road scheme had been implemented in the state as per the guidelines. He added that Rupnala to Thachi Bajhol road is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 8 crore.
