The State Scheduled Castes (SC) Commission’s member advocate Digvijay Malhotra presided over an interaction meeting with members of the SC community at the municipal council hall this afternoon.
Presiding over the meeting Malhotra said the state government had launched a number of welfare schemes for the upliftment of the underprivileged people of the SCs. He said the government had launched Maharishi Valmiki Kaamgar Housing Scheme for the sanitary workers in which financial assistance for Rs 3 lakh would be provided to them.
He said the persons who had annual income less than Rs 2.50 lakh were eligible for availing the benefit of this welfare scheme. He exhorted the deserving SC families to avail this housing facility for which requisite application forms were available in the office of the Tehsil Welfare Officer (TWO). He said the applicants could get detailed information of the scheme from the local TWO.
He said the state government had taken several welfare initiatives for the upliftment of the deprived sections of the state and to make their life more respectable. He said this scheme would provide a great relief to the people of Valmiki community.
On this occasion, the SC commission’s representative heard the problems of the members of the Valmiki community and assured them early redressal. Nurpur Tehsil Welfare Officer Anuradha Natha and Nurpur Municipal council’s executive officer Asha Verma were also present in the meeting.
