Army Havildar Arun Kumar, who was martyred while on duty in Arunachal Pradesh, was cremated with full military honours at his native village Chatara in the Kutlehar Assembly constituency of Una today.
Havildar Arun's body was airlifted from Arunachal Pradesh to Chandigarh by the Army and brought to his village by road this morning.
A pall of gloom descended on the village as Havildar Arun's mortal remains reached the village. Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur, Kutlehar MLA Vivek Sharma and former BJP minister Virender Kanwar paid floral tributes to the martyr.
Anurag said that valiant soldiers from Himachal were making the supreme sacrifice while protecting the nation against enemies. He added that Havildar Arun Kumar served the nation with dedication and devotion and his commitment to duty would be remembered forever. He prayed to the lmighty to give strength to his family to bear the loss.
