Una, August 28
The maiden three-day Chintpurni festival will be held at Mata Chintpurni shrine in Una district from September 14 to 16 and the district administration is making all necessary arrangements for the success of the event.
According to Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, who is also the chairman of Mata Chintpurni Temple Trust, regular meetings to review the progress of preparations were underway.
The DC said the festival has been planned in view of the government’s initiative to showcase the religious and cultural beliefs of the area, besides increasing spiritual and religious tourism in the state.
The DC said the Mata Chintpurni temple is a revered ‘Shaktipeeth’ as per the Hindu mythology and lakhs of devotees visit the shrine from different parts of the world every year. Keeping this in view, he said the success of the fair will boost religious tourism as well as help boost facilities for the devotees coming to the shrine.
Lal informed that a colourful shobha yatra with religious fervour will be organised from the temple to the office of the SDM and will culminate at the playground in Amb, where the main event will be organised.
He said exhibitions showcasing developmental and welfare schemes of various departments, along with products made by self-help groups, will be displayed at the venue.
He said sport events will be organised at the Ramlila ground, where traditional sports like rural wrestling will also be organised. He said auditions for cultural troupes, which will perform during the festival, will be held from September 2 to 4 at the Government College from 11 am onward, adding that an audition committee, under the chairmanship of Una DPRO, has been constituted.
The other members of the committee will be the district art, language and culture officer, college’’s Assistant Professor (Music), and naib tehsildar, said the DC, adding that interested individuals and teams can apply for audition at the SDM office or sent their applications through email at srichintpurnimahotsav2024@gmail.com.
