Maximum covid calls from Kangra

Nearly 36 per cent of the Covid-related calls handled by 108 ambulance services pertain to Kangra district in the state, followed by 15 per cent to Una and 14 per cent to Mandi.

An assessment of data reveals that 45 per cent of such cases pertain to the age group of 18 to 30 years while 30 per cent of these cases belong to the age group of 31 to 40 years. Seven per cent cases belong to the 61 to 70 age group, nine per cent to 41 to 50 and four per cent to 51 to 60 age group. Only 1 per cent comprised people in the age group of 71 years and above.

Districts like Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Hamirpur, Kinnaur and Chamba saw 11, 8, 5, 4, 2 and 0.01 per cent of the calls, respectively.

These findings were shared by the EMRI ambulance services who have been tracking these calls in the last one month. Day-wise respiratory emergencies have been on the increase since March 16, when 30 calls were received. Thereafter, such calls have been constantly increasing everyday with a maximum of 58 calls having been received on March 29 though some decline was noticed after that on March 30 when only 37 calls were received from across the state. Day-wise fever emergency calls also registered an increase from April 16 when only 39 calls were received but the number rose rapidly from March 22 from 57 calls to 107 calls by March 26.

Chief Executive Officer Mehul Sukumaran said they were providing speedy services to all such people by taking into consideration all medical protocols.
