MC to install LED boards in rain shelters
To enhance cleanliness and beautify Shimla’s 83 rain shelters, the Municipal Corporation has decided to install LED boards for advertisements. This move aims to curb the widespread issue of posters and hoardings damaging the walls of these shelters.
Mayor Surender Chauhan highlighted that the rain shelters are often misused as prime spots for unauthorised advertising, compromising their upkeep. “By renting out these spaces for LED advertisements, we can maintain their cleanliness while generating additional revenue for developmental projects,” he said.
The corporation also plans to allow the establishment of stalls near the shelters to provide employment opportunities and boost its income further. Chauhan emphasised that this dual initiative will benefit the unemployed while contributing to Shimla’’s growth.
