Medical college staff trained in curriculum implementation

A two-day curriculum implementation support programme-II training workshop organised by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital for its faculty members concluded here today.

The Dean and Principal, Dr Ramesh Bharti, said the National Medical Commission had replaced the old curriculum with a competency-based medical education curriculum since 2019. As many as 24 faculty members attended the workshop.

According to the new curriculum, MBBS students were imparted competency and skill-based training, so that they could take care of the health needs of society.

Dr Bharti said MBBS pass-outs would now be called Indian medical graduates, who would be competent to provide preventive, primitive, curative, palliative and holistic health care with completion and empathy.

The faculty members were imparted training to teach, train and assess the MBBS students, according to the new curriculum, Dr Bharti said.

Specialised trainers included Dr Harinder Singh, Dr Pankaj Gupta, Dr Harish Chaturvedi, Dr Aditi Chaturvedi and Dr Pranav Kumar Sharma.
