The Election Commission today appointed Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Vimal Kumar Meena as the expenditure observer for the Mandi Lok Sabha byelection.

Meena will keep a close vigil on the expenditures or the money spent by the candidates during the election period to lead their election campaigns. The maximum limit for spending money by a candidate during the election period is Rs 77 lakh.
