Meet regarding rationalisation of polling stations

A meeting of representatives of political parties was held under the chairmanship of Shimla (Rural) Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manjeet Sharma regarding the rationalisation of polling stations in Kasumpti and Shimla (Rural) Assembly constituencies.

A detailed information about polling stations in both constituencies was shared with the representatives and proposals were discussed in accordance with the Election Commission’s directives. Suggestions from political parties were also taken into consideration.

It was informed that certain polling stations in Kasumpti, which were damaged, are proposed to be shifted to alternative buildings.

“Since the number of voters at some polling stations exceeds 1,200, rationalisation is being carried out by merging or reallocating polling stations. In Shimla (Rural) Assembly constituency, a new polling station has been proposed at Sunni, where the voter count exceeds 1,200. Besides, seven polling stations are proposed for rationalisation as voters are facing inconvenience due to distance,” he said. The representatives of the parties who were present in the meeting gave their consent to the proposals.

The meeting also emphasised the mandatory appointment of Booth Level Agents by all political parties using Form 2.
