The Shimla Zila Parishad members proposed to exclude MPs and MLAs from the quorum of Zila Parishad in their meeting here today. The MPs and MLAs do not attend the Zila Parishad meeting, due to which the quorum for the meeting is often not complete leading to unnecessary delays in approving matters, the members said. The meeting was chaired by Zila Parishad chairperson Chandra Prabha Negi.As for the proposal to suspend the officials involved in the paper leak case, the member were told that the matter had been discussed with the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker and it would be placed in the Assembly.

While discussing the proposal regarding registration of craftsmen and artisans, the members were told that experts and artisans could apply under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, under which they are given financial help for getting toolkit along with training.

Regarding the opening of a police post in Kotgarh, SP Sanjeev Gandhi said that compliance would be ensured in the next meeting of the Zila Parishad.

The members were apprised that a detailed report for opening a plant protection sub-centre in Saranh gram panchayat in Chopal had been sent to the government and various posts will have to be created for it.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma directed all Block Development Officers to provide full details of the unspent amount under the 14th and 15th Finance Commission within a week so that the money could be utilised properly. Besides, the members appreciated the Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi and his team for their work to check the spread of drug abuse in the district.
