Mental health institute soon at Tanda hospital

A Centre of Excellence in Mental Health being developed at Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, with a 100-bed capacity would be made operational soon, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said today.
Presiding over a meeting of the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College and Hospital (RPGMCH), Tanda, he emphasised the need for adequate deployment of specialist doctors and staff in these institutions.
He also instructed the concerned departments to increase the number of postgraduate seats in medical colleges. CM said that one staff nurse would be deployed for every six patients to ensure quality medical care. “The waiting time for consultation with doctors would be reduced while the counselling periods needs to be extended,” he said. He also directed the authorities to increase the number of registration counters at the Tanda Medical College.
The Chief Minister approved the filling of various posts, including that of specialist doctors, paramedics and other categories in Tanda Medical College.
