Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap launched the ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath’ scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) today. As part of the initiative, 12 farmers from the Totu block were handed their crop insurance policies, marking the beginning of a doorstep delivery system for farmers’ insurance documents.
Highlighting the significance of crop insurance, DC Kashyap stated that around 215 farmers in the district have already insured their crops under PMFBY. “This scheme will provide crucial financial support to farmers in times of disaster,” he said. He also gathered insights from department officials regarding the implementation and outreach of the initiative.
Encouraging wider participation, the DC urged farmers to insure their crops to ensure compensation for losses due to adverse weather conditions. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of organic farming, urging farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices for long-term benefits.
