It is to bring to the notice of the authorities concerned that since the method of ear-tagging cattle is painful and inhumane, it should be replaced with another technqiue for the registration of the livestock. In 2015, the authorities had stated that digitally-coded electronic micro-chips would be implanted in the neck of the animals and that a complete database of their owners would be developed. However, the primitive method of tagging the cattle still continues. The government should look into the matter and ensure that an alternative method is adopted to register the livestock in order to the exploitation of animals. —Jitender, Kullu
Development projects hanging fire in Kullu
WORK on development projects of public importance is hanging fire due to delay in clearance from various departments. The paperwork process for the channelisation of the Beas from Palchan near Manali to Aut in Mandi has been going on for over a decade, leading to an inordinate delay in the project. The authorities concerned should come up with a comprehensive plan to prevent delays in the paperwork process. —Shubham, Kullu
