Indian Air Force pilot, Wing Commander Mohit Rana, who was killed in the MiG-21 crash in Rajasthan on Thursday night, was a resident of Bohal village under Sandhol tehsil in Mandi district.

On hearing about the news of his tragic death in the air crash, a pall of gloom has descended on his native village.

According to family sources, Mohit Rana had visited the village about 15 days ago. His father Col Om Prakash Rana (retd) is a retired army officer, who is currently living in Chandigarh along with his family.

Dharampur SDM Kartar Singh has confirmed the incident. He said the last rites will probably be held in Chandigarh only.

Due to sudden demise of Mohit Rana, his family and relatives are in a state of shock.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the demise of two IAF pilots in IAF’s MiG-21 fighter jet crash near Barmer in Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister said that their exemplary services to the nation would always be remembered. The Chief Minister said the people of the state are with the family of martyr Mohit Rana in this hour of grief.

The Chief Minister prayed for peace to the departed souls and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
