MiG-21 lands at Pinegrove to inspire young minds

In a powerful tribute to India’s Defence legacy, an air frame of a MiG-21 aircraft was unveiled at Pinegrove School, Subathu by Dr Mallika Nadda, president of the National Body for Special Olympics Bharat, on the concluding day of the school’s three-day annual fest.

The aircraft, facilitated by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, would serve as a symbol of national pride and inspiration for students, reflecting the spirit of courage and service.

Dr Mallika Nadda, the chief guest for the occasion, took the salute during an impressive march-past by the boys’ and girls’ NCC contingents — a display of precision, discipline and patriotism.

The celebrations featured a dynamic gymnastics performance showcasing floor and horse routines, demonstrating the strength, agility and coordination of the students. The Pinegrove School Brass Band — reigning Himachal Pradesh and North Zone champions — captivated the audience with a flawless musical display, while the field dance celebrated the vibrant cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

Adding to the musical ambience, the school’s Jazz Band delivered a lively and soulful performance that drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The cultural segment continued with classical renditions of ‘Raag Kirwani, Shivranjani’ and ‘Vrindavani’, setting a tranquil and reflective mood. The annual school report, presented by students, highlighted academic and co-curricular achievements over the past year.

A moving highlight of the evening was the Hindi play ‘Udaan’, portraying the story of a young girl aspiring to be a pilot who loses her eyesight in an accident. Finding renewed purpose through singing, the narrative showcased a powerful message of resilience, strength and hope, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

Dr Mallika Nadda, underlined the vital role of educators and parents in shaping empathetic, confident and capable citizens. She commended the school for nurturing holistic development and fostering values that extend beyond the classroom. — TNS
