A special Milan Programme was organised at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, to mark the Foundation Day celebrations of 17 states and union territories.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla graced the occasion as the chief guest and interacted with citizens from these states residing in Himachal Pradesh. The event brought together people representing Delhi, Jharkhand, Punjab, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Ladakh and Chandigarh.
The Governor said the Milan Programme served not only as a platform to unite citizens of various states and union territories but also as a vibrant expression of the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He noted that the initiative celebrates India’s diverse cultural heritage, languages, traditions and lifestyles, reinforcing the bond of unity amid diversity.
“India is a confluence of many cultures and this event reflects our collective effort to preserve and promote this unity,” the Governor remarked. He added that the programme aims to foster harmony and mutual respect among diverse communities living in the state.
Citizens representing different regions shared their thoughts and experiences, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate their cultural identities in the heart of Himachal Pradesh.
