Shimla, February 9
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh today felicitated 31 engineers, field officials and employees for their commendable work during the rain disaster last year.
The minister said that due to heavy rainfall from July to August, the state suffered huge losses. PWD engineers, field staff and other employees showed promptness and dedication and worked for 24 hours to restore damaged roads in the stipulated time.
He said, “At several places, completely damaged roads were restored by constructing bridges. This shows their work efficiency. Therefore, the government decided to felicitate such PWD employees at a big platform.”
Vikramaditya congratulated all 31 engineers, field staff and employees and said that similar programmes would be organised in future as well to felicitate PWD employees in recognition of their commitment for work.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and said that it was due to his cooperation that additional funds were sanctioned for road repair and PWD officials were able to restore damaged roads.
He said that the upper Shimla region also suffered significant damage due to torrential rains at a time when the apple crop was ready. However, due to the determination of the government and the cooperation of all, the roads were quickly restored, enabling successful transportation of apple boxes to the market.
The engineers, who were felicitated, are Assistant Engineer Anup Kumar Sharma, Executive Engineer Ram Lal Suman (Rampur), Engineer Amit Sharma, Assistant Engineers Narendra Kumar, Vinayak Kashyap, Alok Janveja, Manish Thakur, Akhil Chaihan, Kanav Badotra, Bhim Singh Negi, DK Nag and Bhavesh Chaturvedi, Junior Engineers Chandar Bhanu, Banku Deen Kuraishi, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Abhimanyu Mehra, Sahil Chaudhary, Krishna Kumar, Jaswant Kumar, Sheetal Sharma, Minas Sharma, Work Inspectors Amit Kumar, Harvansh Kumar and Shankar Dev, Mechanical Technicians, JCB and bulldozer operators Milap Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Subhash Singh, Giridhari Lal, Dandu Lal, Vijay Kumar and Shyam Lal.
