Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated several developmental projects in the Kathasu region of Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituency. Among the major inaugurations was the Khodni Nala Water Supply Scheme, completed at a cost of Rs 2.95 crore. Thakur said the project, initially proposed during his 2016–17 tenure, has now become a reality under NABARD funding. “After 15 years, water from this scheme has reached Kathasu village for the first time, ending a decades-long water crisis,” he said.
Highlighting the improvements, the minister stated that the old scheme’s alignment had technical flaws. A fresh resurvey led to a redesigned, sustainable, and efficient water supply system. The new household distribution system uses advanced technology and could serve as a state-wide model for equitable water distribution.
Thakur also inaugurated the Patwar Office building at Batadgalu, built at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. Its foundation stone was laid by him in December 2023. In addition, the Kohli to Dhapli road, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, was opened at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.
Thakur announced two major projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana — Batadgalu to Sawra (Rs 19 crore) and Bhagoli to Barthata (Rs 17 crore). A total of 132 road projects have been approved in the constituency in the past two-and-a-half years, he added.
